SCANNING
As previously mentioned, I have been extremely pleased with the performance of the UNIDEN Home Patrol Scanner. It is amazing how this equipment, with just a 6" stubby antenna, is able to pull in signals from neighboring States as well as provide excellent coverage of activity here in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. A huge plus for scanning in this area is the fact that the Martinsburg Journal newspaper frequently publishes brief entries of communications of the Berkeley County Central Dispatch which includes activities of the Sheriffs Office, EMS, Fire Departments plus the Martinsburg Police Department. Jefferson County EMS and Fire Comms are also published. It is interesting to check monitoring logs against the published items as this often results in gaining some background details pertaining to particular communications.
